My line of research focuses on the application of physics in the field of medicine. Currently, I am working on the development and improvement of Monte Carlo simulation techniques to study energy deposits in clinical accelerators, with the aim of better understanding the effects of radiotherapy on biological tissue. Along with both undergraduate and graduate students, we are expanding this area of research, developing a new system that combines Monte Carlo simulations with DNA damage simulations and exploring the combination with Machine Learning techniques. I also use the latter in radiomics applications. Finally, I have a special interest in the development of radiation detectors for applications in medical physics and particle physics, from their design in the laboratory to the evaluation of their performance through simulations.
